If you, or someone you know, is or was an active addict, you know all too well that the hardest, but most important, decision you can make in your life is the decision to become sober. The foundation of our company was to provide natural options for addicts on their way to recovery. The founders of Exact Nature have been in your shoes and know what you’re going through. We were founded by a father and son team who are intimate with the issues surrounding addiction.
Recovering alcoholic and addict Thomas White and his son Daniel, also in recovery, started Exact Nature on a mission to provide addicts and alcoholics with safe, natural, healthy and effective supplements to assist those on the road to recovery. Thomas and Daniel’s answer to their addiction and what put them on the road to recovery was CBD.
Persuasive scientific evidence has revealed that CBD oil may be effective in treating some substance abuse related symptoms, such as anxiety and depression. As is the case with most chronic illnesses, addiction is a disease that has a high chance of relapse and remission. In 2014, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration reported that 21.5 million Americans were in need of therapeutic treatment for their addiction. Because CBD is non-habit forming and isn’t psychoactive, it may serve as a solution for reducing the cravings and anxiety experienced by people who suffer from addiction, especially during the withdrawal phase. CBD’s capacity to regulate the body’s dopamine receptors is the key to providing relief for the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms such as excessive hunger; sleep issues; lethargy; muscle pain; confusion and disorientation; nausea; mood swings; and cold sweats.
A recent study performed on rats by the Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, discovered that the brain’s serotonin receptors are fueled by CBD and the result was a reduction in drug-seeking behavior. In this study, CBD oil was administered to rats after they were given cocaine and alcohol. The results showed that five months after the CBD left their systems, the rats did not show any drug-seeking behaviors.
Additionally, studies have shown that CBD may also be effective in helping smoker quit cigarettes. The University of London conducted a study that found a relationship between the cannabinoids found in the hemp plant and nicotine addiction. In this study on humans, habitual smokers were given an inhaler filled with CBD and a placebo. The subjects who used the CBD inhaler showed a drastic reduction in tobacco consumption and a decreased craving for nicotine.
