Exceptional Ingredients

Exceptional CBD starts with exceptional hemp. Once processing begins, our CBD is rendered non-intoxicating. The other ingredients selected for each product then must meet the same exacting standard set by the CBD. Below is additional information about our ingredients.

Hemp and CBD

  • Broad Spectrum. Broad spectrum means a product contains all the cannabinoids that naturally occur in the cannabis plant, except for the THC which has been removed to prevent intoxication. By contrast, products that are isolate derived contain only the isolated CBD molecule, thereby eliminating the possibility of the "entourage effect," which is the synergistic effect that occurs when the many components of the hemp plant interact with the human body to produce a stronger influence than any one of those components could produce on its own. Broad-spectrum CBD falls between full-spectrum CBD and CBD isolate. Broad spectrum contains the entire spectrum of cannabinoids except for the THC, but can still produce the helpful entourage effect.
  • Essential Fatty Acids. Essential fatty acids are fats critical to proper functioning of the body. They are essential because your body cannot produce them on its own, so they must come from your diet.
  • Flavonoids are a group of plant metabolites (the product of a plant’s metabolism) thought to provide antioxidant and other health benefits. Flavonoids are similar to terpenes in that they contribute to a plant's aroma and flavor profile but may also offer their own unique therapeutic effects. Flavonoids are found in a variety of fruits and vegetables.
  • Gluten Free.Exact Nature products do not contain gluten.
  • Hemp Extract. This means the CBD is extracted from the stalks, stems, and flowers, but not the seeds, of the cannabis sativa plant. Hemp extract is derived from those parts of the hemp plant known to have high levels of cannabidiol (CBD).
  • Highest Purity and Potency. Not all CBD is created equal. Exact Nature hemp is grown according to the highest industry standards. The result is CBD with a robust blend of cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes.
  • Made in the U.S.A.Exact Nature’s ingredients have all been bought and/or procured from sources in the United States with no, or negligible, foreign content.
  • Naturally Occurring Phytocannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids are cannabinoids that occur naturally in the cannabis plant. (“Phyto” means it comes from plants.) Phytocannabionoids interact with our body's natural systems because of their similarity to endocannabinoids, the cannabinoids synthesized by our bodies.
  • No additives or fillers.Exact Nature products do not use any ingredients that aren't necessary. Our product formulas focus strictly on ingredients that can further the individual product’s mission.
  • Non-GMO.Non-GMO means that the genetic makeup of the plants and animals used in Exact Nature products have not been altered.
  • Non-Habit Forming. It is generally accepted that CBD is not habit-forming. Because CBD doesn't produce the high associated with marijuana, it's potential for abuse is considered limited by scientists.
  • Non-Intoxicating/Non-Psychoactive. Note: We want to draw a small distinction in calling something non-intoxicating versus non-psychoactive. The point is that Exact Nature products will not produce a “high,” but can be psychoactive, or more accurately referred to as psychotropic, in the sense that they can produce positive feelings of calm and focus.
  • No Pesticides. No pesticides, herbicides, solvents, chemical fertilizers, contaminants or toxins have been used on Exact Nature products or ingredients.
  • Phytocannabinoid-Rich. Vital cannabinoids, terpenes, and other plant compounds allow Exact Nature’s phytocannabinoid-rich CBD to optimize its natural psychotropic (mood-affecting) and therapeutic properties while also encouraging the "entourage effect" that occurs when this all works together synergistically.
  • Terpenes. Terpenes are produced in the sticky resin glands of the cannabis plant where CBD and other cannabinoids are also produced. Terpenes give hemp its distinctive aromatic and flavor, while delivering numerous therapeutic effects.
  • Third-Party Lab Tested.Exact Nature products are independently tested for quality and purity. Third-party lab testing provides a neutral, transparent, and unbiased source of information and verification.
  • Thoughtfully Sourced.Exact Nature products use only Nevada-grown hemp, the best available in the US due to its ideal arid growing climate and favorable regulatory environment. The other ingredients meet that same exceptional standard.

 Additional Ingredients

  • Ashwagandha. Ashwagandha is an ancient medicinal herb that has long been used in the Indian tradition for health tonics and calming serums. It's classified as an adaptogen, meaning that it can help your body manage stress, while also providing numerous other benefits for your body and brain. For example, it can boost brain function, lower blood sugar and cortisol levels, and help fight symptoms of anxiety and depression.
  • CBD. Cannabadiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower of cannabis, a plant with a thousand-year history as a medicine. CBD is one of 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants and accounts for up to 40 percent of the plant's extract. CBD has shown great promise to control cravings associated with substance abuse. Its therapeutic properties are now being tested and confirmed by scientists and doctors worldwide; considered a safe, non-addictive substance.
  • CBN. Cannabinol (CBN) is one of the more than one hundred cannabinoids found in hemp and is used here (in the Zzzs CBD Oil) for the sedative effect it can produce.
  • Chamomile. Chamomile is an herb that comes from the daisy-like flowers of the Asteraceae plant family. It has been consumed for centuries as a natural remedy for several health conditions. A 2016 study of the links between chamomile tea and sleep quality and depression found that those who drank chamomile tea every night for two weeks had better sleep quality than those who did not—and the effects were reversed when they stopped drinking the tea.
  • Citric Acid. Citric acid is a weak organic acid that occurs naturally in citrus fruits. It helps regulate acidity and serves as an antioxidant.
  • Coconut Water. Coconut water is packed with nutrients and low in calories. Dubbed "Mother Nature’s sports drink" it is naturally free of fat and cholesterol with more potassium than four bananas
  • Dandelion Root. Dandelion root has long been used in herbal medicine to aid in digestion, stimulate appetite, and boost liver health. It has long been used in traditional Chinese and Native American medicine to treat stomach and liver conditions. Herbalists use dandelion root in the treatment of many ailments, including high cholesterol, heartburn, gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, detoxification, and even cancer.
  • GABA. Gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) is a naturally occurring amino acid that works as a neurotransmitter in your brain. GABA attaches to a protein in your brain known as a GABA receptor and produces a calming effect. This can help with feelings of anxiety, stress, and fear.
  • Holy Basil (Tulsi). One of the most revered medicinal herbs known to man, holy basil, or tulsi, is commonly used in Western medicine as an adaptogen to combat the negative effects of stress in the body, maintain stable blood sugar levels, and promote longevity.
  • L-Glutamine. L-glutamine is an α-amino acid used in protein biosynthesis and used to help with recovery for alcoholism. The L- in front of the amino acid means it's in its free form, not attached to other amino acids with peptide bonds, forming a protein and allowing the body to more efficiently absorb it.
  • L-Theanine. An amino acid that is a major component of black and green tea, which, on its own, may promote a feeling of calm, relaxation, and increased creativity.
  • L-Tyrosine. L-tyrosine is an amino acid, a building block of protein, that occurs naturally in the body and required for the production of the neurotransmitters dopamine, adrenaline, and noradrenaline. It has been used to help with recovery from cocaine, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, tobacco and alcohol.
  • Magnesium. The mineral magnesium plays a role in more than 300 enzyme reactions in the body, including encouraging mood stability and improving nerve function, muscle, and bone health. Magnesium is a nervous system relaxant which helps with anxiety, fear, irritability, and restlessness.
  • Magnesium Citrate.Magnesium citrate is the element magnesium bound to citric acid. It can be used as a laxative or dietary supplement. Magnesium citrate is often used to "clean out" or evacuate the colon before undergoing diagnostic procedures like a colonoscopy or to help relieve symptoms of indigestion.
  • Matcha. Rich in antioxidants, matcha is a green tea thought to help protect the liver, boost brain function, and promote heart health.
  • MCT Oil. MCT oil is a fatty carrier oil, which are typically medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) such as coconut oil. MCT molecules are smaller than those in most fats you eat (long-chain triglycerides [LCT]) making them easier to digest. MCTs can be absorbed quickly into the bloodstream, turning them into usable energy.
  • Melatonin.Melatonin is a hormone your brain produces in response to darkness (i.e., lack of light). It helps with the timing of your circadian rhythms (internal clock) and with sleep. Being exposed to light at night can block melatonin production. Research suggests that melatonin also plays other important roles in the body beyond sleep. Exact Nature uses natural melatonin.
  • Milk Thistle. Milk thistle is a flowering herb native to Mediterranean countries related to the daisy and ragweed family. Used for its liver-protecting effects for people with liver damage due to alcoholic liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatitis, and even liver cancer.
  • Moringa. Often called the “miracle tree,” moringa has long been an integral component in Ayurveda, a 5,000-year-old system of natural healing. Packed with health-promoting properties and nutritional value, moringa helps improve liver and bone health, among many benefits.
  • Passionflower. Passiflora, aka passionflower or passion vines, is a genus of about 550 species of flowering plants, mostly tendril-bearing vines like shrubs or trees. They can be woody or herbaceous. Passionflower boosts GABA levels in the brain, which promotes relaxation; passionflower eases generalized anxiety, usually with fewer side effects than prescribed sedatives.
  • Puerariae Radix (Kudzu Root). Puerariae radix, also known as kudzu and arrowroot, is a perennial deciduous vine of the Leguminosae family and which the cane, root, leaf, flower bud and seed are used medicinally. Kudzu root has been used in Chinese medicine to treat alcoholism since 600 AD.
  • Rhodiola Rosea. Rhodiola rosea is an herb that grows in the cold, mountainous regions of Europe and Asia. Its roots are considered adaptogens, meaning they help your body adapt to stress when consumed.
  • Stevia. Native to Paraguay and the Americas, the stevia plant produces leaves packed with super-sweet compounds which have been used to sweeten teas and beverages throughout South America for centuries. Stevia is a safe, healthy sugar substitute without the negative health effects linked to refined sugar.
  • St. John’s Wort. St. John’s wort is a flowering plant commonly used to improve depressive moods and to decrease the nervousness and tiredness related to depression.
  • Sucralose. Sucralose is an artificial sweetener and sugar substitute. The majority of ingested sucralose is not broken down by the body, so it is noncaloric.
  • Thiamine (B1). Vitamin B1, AKA thiamin or thiamine, enables the body to use carbohydrates as energy. It is essential for glucose metabolism and plays a key role in a healthy nervous system and proper brain functioning.
  • Valerian Root. Valeriana officinalis, commonly known as valerian, is an herb native to Asia and Europe. This herb has been used since ancient times to promote tranquility and improve sleep. Often paired with passionflower, it promotes similar calming effects and is commonly used as a sleep aid. And like passionflower, it increases the amount of GABA in the brain.
